sprunki phase 8 version
So I Tried Sprunki Phase 8... Here's What Happened
Okay so my friend Alex texted me yesterday like "hey have you seen the new Phase 8 thing?" and I was like... wait there's a Phase 8 now? Last I checked I was still stuck on trying to make anything decent in Phase 6. But whatever, I clicked the link and here we are.
First thing I noticed—the colors are different. Like more... purple? I don't know if that matters but it feels more nighttime vibes. Or maybe I'm just tired, it's 11 PM here and my coffee's wearing off.
Anyway, the icons. There's this new one that looks like a little satellite dish or something? When you drag it, it makes this weird wobbly sound that kind of reminds me of my old dial-up modem. You know, the AOL "you've got mail" sound but stretched out and sadder. I don't hate it.
Actually let me back up. If you're totally new to this whole Sprunki thing—which, why would you be starting with Phase 8, but whatever—it's basically this music game where you drag icons to make beats. Some people call it "Incredibox for weirdos" which... fair. My sister says it sounds like "if a robot nursery rhyme had a baby with elevator music."
Phase 8 specifically has... I think 7 or 8 new sound slots? I honestly never count them properly because I just start clicking randomly until something sounds okay. There's one that's like a metallic ping that's really satisfying if you time it right.
Here's my totally unprofessional "guide" if you want to try it:
1. Open the game (obviously)
2. Look for the blue-ish icon second from the left
3. Drag it to the middle area thing
4. Then grab the green swirly one (third row maybe?)
5. Now add the red thing that looks like a fire hydrant
6. Listen. Does it sound good? No? Try swapping the order.
See, I told you I'm bad at explaining this stuff. I'm the person who cooks without recipes and just adds "enough" spices, you know?
Oh wait I almost forgot—there's this one screenshot where the characters are doing this little dance animation and it's actually kind of cute?
Like look at this guy. He's just vibing. No thoughts, head empty, just grooving.
The Good, The Bad, and The... Whatever
What I like: The purple aesthetic is nice. The satellite dish sound is my new favorite even though my roommate says it gives him anxiety. There's more layers you can stack without it turning into complete chaos (looking at you, Phase 6).
What I don't like: One of the percussion sounds is too... tinny? Like hitting an empty soda can with a plastic spoon. Also I can't figure out if there's a way to save your creation or if you just screenshot it like a caveman. Probably the latter.
Random thought: This would be great background noise for when you're trying to focus but also want to feel like you're in a retro-futuristic arcade. Or maybe that's just me.
Honestly though, if you liked the earlier Phases (especially 4 and 6, everyone seems obsessed with those), you'll probably dig this. It's not radically different but it's... different enough? Like ordering your usual coffee but they have a new syrup so you try it and it's fine.
Q: Should you play this instead of Sprunki Pyramixed or Retake?
A: I mean... why not both? Pyramixed is more complex (and kinda overwhelming tbh), Retake has that whole "human" version thing going on. Phase 8 is just... chill. It knows what it is.
My personal rating: 3.5 out of 5 purple satellite dishes. Would be 4 but I'm still bitter about the soda can sound.
Anyway, try it if you're bored. Or don't. I'm not your boss. My cat just walked across my keyboard so I'm gonna go deal with that now.
