sprunki phase 6 remastered big update part 4
Phase 6 Remastered: Part 4? Seriously, How Many Parts Are There?
Alright, let's talk about this behemoth of a title first: Sprunki Phase 6 Remastered Big Update Part 4. That's a mouthful. It sounds like a software patch note for a program from 2005. But hey, when a mod gets this many updates, you know someone's passionate about it—or completely unable to let go.
My first thought: "Didn't Part 3 just come out?" Then I checked. Time flies when you're dragging little music dudes around a screen, I guess.
The "Big" in Big Update
So what's new? The usual suspects: a couple new character icons, some fresh sound effects, maybe a background color swap. I'm being cynical—there's actually a new row of slots? Or maybe it just looks different. The UI is definitely... busier.
One of the new sounds is this wobbly, watery synth thing. I dragged it in with the classic bass and the click track, and for a hot second, it sounded like a sci-fi movie trailer from the 80s. Then I added the cha-cha shaker and ruined everything. Classic me.
Q: Is it better than the original Phase 6?
A: That's like asking if the 5th season of a TV show is better than the 1st. It's... more. More stuff. Whether that stuff is good depends on your taste. If you thought Phase 6 was perfect, maybe stick with it. If you wanted more toys in the same sandbox, here you go.
Personal rant: I miss when mods had simple names. "Phase 6 v2." Done. Now everything needs a subtitle, an edition name, a version number with two decimals... Anyway.
A 5-Minute Challenge Gone Wrong
I gave myself 5 minutes to make something "epic" using only the new icons from Part 4. Timer set.
Minute 1: Found the new icons (they have a little star on them? Or a glow? I couldn't tell).
Minute 2-3: Experimented. One sounds like a robot clearing its throat. Another like a drop of water in a cave.
Minute 4: Tried to layer them. Sounded less like music and more like a malfunctioning kitchen appliance.
Minute 5: Gave up and added the old reliable drum loop. Suddenly, it was a vibe. Lesson learned: new + old = usually safe.
It reminds me of when I tried to build furniture from one of those big box stores. The new parts (Part 4) are cool, but you still need the original screws and boards (the classic Phase 6 sounds) to hold it all together.
Oh, and the visuals. The background has more gradients now. Or maybe it's just my coffee kicking in. There's definitely more animation on the characters when they're active. Little bounces, slight shakes. It doesn't affect gameplay, but it's nice. Like digital fidget toys.
Who Is This For?
If you've never played Phase 6, just play the original (or the first remaster). Don't start with Part 4 of an update; that's like starting a book series on book 7.
If you've played Phase 6 to death and your creations are starting to all sound the same... yeah, grab this. The new sounds might spark something. They did for me, for about ten minutes, before I went back to making my usual lo-fi chill mix.
I wonder if there will be a Part 5. At this rate, probably. The modder seems committed. Good for them.
Final, messy verdict: It's fine. More Sprunki. If you like Sprunki, you'll like this. If you're bored of Sprunki, this won't change your mind. It's a solid B. Now, back to trying to make the robot throat-clear sound work in a melody... I think it's a lost cause.
P.S. The green icon still looks like a pickle to me. I will die on this hill.
