Sprunki Phase 7.5 V2 - Or: Let's Make Some Weird Noise
Okay so you've played some Sprunki. You know the drill. Drag icons, make sounds, maybe make something decent, maybe make garbage. But have you played Phase 7.5 V2? No? #46 My bookmarks are a mess of Sprunki links with names like "good one!!!!" This one would be bookmarked as "weird but good????"
First thing you notice: #140 The color palette gives me a headache after 10 minutes. Too much neon. But like... intentional neon? Like someone said "what if we made everything slightly more... electric?"
What's Actually Different Here?
So this is Phase 7.5 but... V2. Which means it's like the original but updated. Tweaked. Adjusted. Some sounds are slightly different. Some animations are smoother (or glitchier, depending). The colors are definitely brighter. Like, retina-searing bright.
#389 Like elevator music from a spaceship that's lost in orbit. That's the vibe. Not regular elevator music. Not regular spaceship music. Lost spaceship elevator music. Make sense? No? Good.
I showed this to my friend last night (we were bored, couldn't decide what to watch). We took turns adding sounds. The goal: make the weirdest thing possible. Not good. Not musical. Just... weird.
Our "Weird Combo" Challenge
Here's what we did (you should try it):
- Start with the pink thing that looks like a screaming taco (top left)
- Add the blue thing that sounds like #273 a printer having an existential crisis
- Wait 2 seconds
- Add the green zigzag that sounds like dial-up internet trying to sing
- Laugh uncontrollably
- Add the yellow circle anyway because why not
- Try to decide if it's terrible or genius
- Conclude it's both
Questions That Came Up
- Are there Easter eggs or hidden content? I mean, probably? With Sprunki there's always some weird thing if you click the right spot. We found that if you click the background really fast, one of the characters winks. That counts, right?
- What makes this unique in the Sprunki series? It's like... Phase 7.5 but with more caffeine. Everything is slightly more intense. The sounds have more reverb? Or less? I can't tell. But they're different.
- Can I collaborate with friends in real-time? No, but you can do what we did - pass the mouse back and forth. "Your turn to add a sound!" "No that one sounds terrible!" "That's the point!" It's a bonding experience.
Compared to the "Definitive" Version
So there's a Phase 7.5 Definitive (it's on this site too). That one is... chill. Relaxing. This one? Not that. This is the opposite of chill. This is what you play when you've had too much sugar and need to burn energy.
#497 My fingers started tapping along without me even noticing. But like, aggressive tapping. Not chill tapping. This game makes you want to tap aggressively.
Actually Useful Thing I Discovered
So there's this one icon (the purple diamond thing) that if you drag it REALLY fast from one side to the other, it makes a different sound than if you drag it slowly. That's not in all Sprunki versions! That's a V2 feature!
Also the characters bounce differently. The orange one doesn't just bounce - it wobbles. Like jello. I don't know why that matters but it does. It matters a lot.
Who This Is For
People who:
- Think regular Sprunki is too "normal"
- Want to make sounds that confuse their pets
- Have friends over and want something dumb to do
- Appreciate when games commit to being weird
- Like neon even though it hurts their eyes
It's not for everyone. But if you read this far, it's probably for you.
Final verdict: It's Phase 7.5 but someone turned the "weird" dial from 7 to 11. Whether that's good or bad depends on your tolerance for weird. My tolerance is high. My retinas are less tolerant.
P.S. If you make something actually good in this version, screenshot it immediately. Because you'll never make it again. The weirdness is ephemeral. Embrace it.
