sprunki phase 13 official
Phase 13 Is Here. Finally.
Alright, so Phase 12 felt like it was around forever, right? I was starting to think maybe the whole Sprunki thing was done. But nope - Phase 13 dropped last month (I think? Time is fake anyway) and it's... actually pretty solid.
First thing I noticed: the color palette is different. Less... primary colors? More like teals, purples, that sorta thing. The characters look sharper too. Less "cute blob," more "stylized icon." Not sure if I prefer it, but it's growing on me.
New Sounds, Who Dis?
So the big question with any new phase: are the sounds actually new, or just remixed old ones? I'd say 70% new, 30% familiar-but-tweaked. There's this one that sounds EXACTLY like my microwave beeping, which is either genius or annoying depending on my mood.
Quick start if you're impatient:
- Start with the second character from the left (gray/blueish)
- Add the far right one (pink/purple gradient)
- THEN add the third one (green/teal)
- Adjust timing until it doesn't sound like a car alarm
That combo gave me something that could almost be lo-fi hip hop if you squint your ears.
That One Weird Trick (Actually Useful)
Okay so. This isn't in any tutorial. If you click AND HOLD on any character for like 2 seconds before releasing, you get a slightly different sound variant. It's subtle, but it adds texture. The pink one goes from "digital blip" to "underwater blip." Big difference? No. Cool detail? Yes.
I spent way too long trying to figure out if this was intentional or a bug. Given how polished everything else is, I'm leaning toward intentional easter egg.
Q: Is Phase 13 harder than Phase 12?
A: Not harder, just... different. The sounds complement each other in weirder ways. Takes some getting used to.
Q: Can you still make the classic "Sprunki beat" with this?
A: You can make something that FEELS like a classic Sprunki beat, but it'll have this Phase 13 flavor. Like ordering your usual coffee but at a new cafe.
Things I Love/Hate (Unfiltered)
Love: The bass sound on character #4. It's got this warmth that previous phases were missing. Actually feels like a proper bassline instead of just "low noise."
Hate: The high-pitched ting on character #1. Too shrill for my taste. My roommate disagrees though - he says it "cuts through the mix." Whatever that means.
Indifferent: The visual effects when you have multiple characters going. They're pretty, but I'm usually watching something else while listening anyway.

Random thought while playing yesterday: This would be perfect background sound for working on spreadsheets. Something about the rhythmic but not-too-intrusive beats just... works. Or maybe I've just played too much Sprunki and my brain is now wired to associate it with productivity.
Also, side note: I appreciate that they're still making these. In a world of battle royales and 100-hour RPGs, there's something comforting about a simple "click things, make sounds" game that just... exists. No ads popping up every 30 seconds (at least not yet), no "buy this skin for $9.99." Just sounds.
Will there be a Phase 14? Who knows. But if you liked any of the previous ones, this is worth at least 15 minutes of your time. Maybe during your next coffee break. That's what I did. Twice.
Final rating: 7.5/10. Good evolution, not revolutionary. Solid B+.
