Sprunki Pyramixed 0.9 OC New - When New Characters Meet Old Habits
So I'm clicking around this new OC version and honestly?
It's like meeting an old friend who got a weird haircut. You recognize them, but something's... different. That's what #45 from my notes says anyway - "I've developed preferences for specific sound designers. This feels like someone's work I can't quite place."
Right off the bat, let me tell you about the first thing that hit me: #150 "The characters blink at random intervals. Some are slow, some are fast. No pattern." And you know what? It's kinda charming in a glitchy way. Like they're winking at you, saying "hey, we're not your regular Sprunkis."
Now if you're coming from the regular Pyramixed versions, you're probably wondering - what's actually new here? Well for starters, there's this orange character that makes a sound like... #259 "If a fax machine and a dial-up modem had a baby, this would be its cries." I'm not even joking. It's that specific brand of digital noise that somehow works when you layer it with the right beats.
And speaking of layers, here's the thing about OC versions in general - they're always a gamble. Sometimes you get gold, sometimes you get... well, #307 "Sounds like a robot's attempt at lullabies." This one? Somewhere in the middle leaning toward gold. The bass has this nice wub-wub that doesn't overpower everything, which is more than I can say for some mods I've played.
I should mention #372 too because it's too accurate: "I've developed inside jokes with myself about specific mod elements." Like there's this blue blob in the corner that I've named "Barry." No reason. Just feels like a Barry.
Actually, let's answer a couple questions I keep seeing:
What makes this different from other Pyramixed versions? Honestly? The sound palette feels... cleaner? Or maybe just different enough that your usual combos don't work the same way. Forces you to experiment, which is either frustrating or fun depending on your mood.
Is it good for beginners? Hmm. If you've never played Sprunki before, maybe start with something more basic. This has enough quirks that might confuse a total newbie. But if you've dabbled in Phase 3 or regular Pyramixed, you'll pick it up quick.
Oh and #497 - "My fingers are tapping the desk along with the rhythm unconsciously." Happened within like two minutes of playing. There's something about the tempo in this one that just gets into your bones.
Wrapping this up - if you're tired of the same old Sprunki sounds and want something that feels familiar but has enough newness to keep you clicking for another half hour, this OC version is worth the time. It's not revolutionary, but it's a solid addition to the Pyramixed family.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go see if Barry the blue blob sounds good with the orange fax-machine baby. Research, you know?
