Sprunki Definitive Phase 21 WIP Scratch - The "Still Baking" Experiment
Okay so my friend sent me this link last night saying "you gotta try this sprunki thing it's like... broken but in a good way?" And honestly, that's the best description I can give for Phase 21 Work in Progress. It's on Scratch, which already tells you something—expect some jank, expect things to not fully work, but also expect someone's passion project gone slightly off the rails.
What's new here? Hard to say exactly because it's a WIP (work in progress for those not into dev talk). The characters look... different. Like someone tried to redraw them after only hearing a description over a bad phone connection. There's this one guy who's supposed to be Grey? Greyson? Gray? Honestly the file name says "gry_char_new_test.png" so who knows.
The sounds are where it gets weird—in a good-bad way. I was trying to make a chill loop for background noise while working, and one of the new percussion sounds just... cut out randomly. Then came back with a weird echo effect I couldn't replicate. Bug or feature? In a WIP, it's both. Reminded me of that time my old laptop's audio driver would glitch during Zoom calls—annoying but kinda nostalgic?
How to Actually Play This Thing (Maybe)
If you're coming from the more polished versions like Sprunki Phase 4 or even Sprunki Retake, temper your expectations. This isn't that. It's like playing with clay that's still wet. Things might not stick. Some icons do nothing when you click (at least for me). I counted 7 active sound slots? Maybe 8? I gave up counting after the third attempt crashed the tab.
But here's the actual fun part: because it's so unfinished, there's zero pressure. Nobody's expecting you to make a banger track. You're just poking at something half-alive to see what noises it makes. It's digital beachcombing.
I managed to get something that vaguely resembled a lofi beat going for about 30 seconds before something glitched and the tempo doubled. Sounded like a chipmunk on espresso. My roommate yelled from the other room "what IS that??" which I take as a win.
WIP vs Finished - Who Cares?
Honestly, the line between "definitive" versions and these scratch mods is getting blurrier every day. I mean, is Sprunki Definitive Phase 9 really more "finished" than this? Or does it just have more pixels? The core appeal—dragging little dudes to make silly noises—is all here, just wrapped in duct tape and hope.
Q: Should I play this or wait for the finished version?
A: If you have to ask, wait. Or don't. The "finished" version might never come. That's the thing with Scratch projects—they live in permanent beta purgatory, which is kinda beautiful in its own sad way.
Today's weather is gross and rainy, perfect for tinkering with broken digital toys. Makes me feel less bad about my own unfinished projects.
Personal rating: 2.5/5 for functionality, 4/5 for entertainment value if you're easily amused by digital chaos. The green rocket sound is still annoying as hell though—some things never change, even in experimental builds.
Oh, and if it crashes your browser (it did mine twice), just... refresh? Or go play something more stable like Sprunki Phase 3. This is the wild west, baby. No guarantees.
