Mountain Platformer: Pillar Journey with Full Mobile Port & High Score System
100% created by Ross42867. Curated on May 7, 2019 by @Omis1220 — an event that brought thousands of views and hundreds of favorites. This is not just a game; it is a documented indie development diary.
Game Concept & Level Flow
You descend through stone pillars, landing safely on clouds to progress. There are no walls; you can jump through platforms from underneath. The only true enemy is the abyss — a thin, visible bar at the bottom of the screen. Touch it and you die, even if you hit the cloud at the same frame.
Control Scheme – PC & Mobile
- PC (Keyboard): WASD or arrow keys to move. R to restart (kills you). B+N for hard reset (fixes layer glitches). M to mute/unmute. P to skip current level (no high score recorded).
- Mobile (Touch): Hold left/right side of screen to move. Tap top area to jump; top corners for diagonal jump. R button (bottom left) to restart. Reset button (bottom right) for glitch recovery. Circle music note to mute. Skip button to skip level (no score).
High Scores & Customization
High scores were introduced March 2019. Skipping or using reset buttons voids score saving. Character customization added May 2019: Boy/Girl costume — art and idea by @scratchbot270. More options were planned but the game stands complete.
Update History & Community Gratitude
The developer publicly thanked @scratchbot270 (mobile testing, advertising), @Empire11 (first tester, ideas), @nrg1098 (music discovery: Kevin Macleod 'Bit Shift'), and @Omis1220 (curation). The update log (Feb–May 2019) documents mobile implementation, respawn speed optimizations, level 8/9/10 difficulty tuning, and the highscores menu.
Ross42867 completed the game in 17 minutes 33 seconds with 115 deaths (pre‑update). All levels are tested and possible — even when they look impossible. This is platformer transparency at its best.
