Incredibox Sprunki Kats Sounds: When Cats Try to Make Beats
Okay so I found this one last night when I couldn't sleep. My brain was like "let's click some colorful things" and this popped up. First impression? It's like someone took regular Sprunki characters and gave them all cat ears. Weird choice but honestly, it works.
There's this orange one that looks kinda grumpy?
I keep clicking it just to hear the little "mewp" sound it makes. Not even a proper meow, more like a robot cat being surprised.
#189 The audio panning is random. Sometimes left, sometimes right. Like the sounds are running around the room or something. Makes you turn your head like an idiot.
What even is "kats" supposed to mean anyway? Typo? Some inside joke I missed? The community has its own slang I guess. "Phase-pilled" "Sprunk-pilled" etc. (#80) Maybe this is "kat-pilled". Who knows.
How It Actually Plays (Spoiler: Chaotic)
So you've got these... cat-adjacent blobs. You drag them onto the line, they start making noises. Some are high-pitched chirps, some are low rumbles that sound like a cat purring if the cat was a synthesizer.
My cat actually came over to investigate when I played this. She's a fan of the orange one specifically. (#6) She just stared at the screen, then looked at me like "what have you done".
The green blob in this screenshot makes this weird scratchy sound. Like a cat scratching a post but electronic. It's oddly satisfying?
#461 My breathing has synced with the rhythm. I'm becoming one with the blob. No seriously, after a few minutes I realized I was breathing in time with the beat. Concerning but also kinda cool?
The Weird Questions No One Asks
So like... How does the scoring system work in this? There's no score. You just make noise. Are there difficulty levels? Nope. Just cats and beeps. What's the average play session length? For me it was like 7 minutes before my brain went "okay that's enough cat robots".
And can teachers use this in classrooms? Imagine trying to teach music with this. "Okay kids today we're learning rhythm through electronic cat sounds." Actually... they might love it.
#332 I should trademark the phrase "yet another Sprunki mod." Because honestly, that's what this is. But with cats. So "yet another Sprunki mod but with cats." Catchy.
See all those icons at the bottom? Each one is a different cat-sound-thing. Some sound like they're saying "nyah" but distorted through 10 filters.
Final Thoughts (If You Can Call Them Thoughts)
This feels like the music that plays when your computer is thinking really hard. (#208) But like, thinking about cats. It's perfect for when you're avoiding real work. (#236) Which is exactly what I'm doing right now writing this.
My wrist has developed a permanent slight tilt from dragging icons. (#453) Not specifically from this game but from ALL the Sprunki games. This one didn't help.
Would I play it again? Yeah probably next time I'm waiting for something to download and need to click colorful things. It's like a digital fidget toy that makes questionable music. The characters are cute in a "what even are you" way.
Just don't expect to make actual music. Expect to make... experiences. Weird, beep-boop, cat-adjacent experiences.
