Front-Page Sonic-Inspired Engine
Wanderling Demo secured Scratch front-page placement within two days of release under "What the Community is Loving." This is not a complete game but a fully functional platformer engine and technical demo built upon an original Sonic the Hedgehog foundation.
Unprecedented Animation Fidelity
The player sprite alone comprises 115 individually hand-drawn vector frames—every movement, jump, and idle state crafted by @Engimatic in Scratch and TurboWarp vector editors. Total project scale: 4270+ code blocks, 31 sprites, and 261 scripts.
Stamina-Driven Movement System
Double-tap left or right arrow keys to initiate stamina-consuming running. Climbing vertical surfaces also depletes stamina. Crouching and bouncing on mushrooms require no stamina. Players must discover the climbing technique through experimentation.
Performance & Compatibility
Approximately 15-second initial loading time on Chromebook devices. Optimized scrolling platformer logic with screen refresh disabled for smooth performance.
Extensive Credit & Learning Journey
@ShiftClickLearn: Night Ninja tutorial (4 adapted scripts). @griffpatch: Core platformer physics and screen refresh optimization—original 600 blocks expanded to over 1000 through customization. @amylaser & @-Floww: Sound effects. Kenney.nl: Base tree and bush art (edited). Nintendo's Breath of the Wild: Lives system conceptual inspiration. TUNIC: Thumb art influence. All other art, code, original soundtrack, and 100+ development hours by @Engimatic.
Community Interaction
In-project comments are disabled, but player feedback and bug reports are welcome on the creator's Scratch profile.
