incredibox sprunki phase 2.3 definitive
Phase 2.3 "Definitive" - Or As I Call It, "Probably The Last Update"
You ever notice how everything gets a "definitive edition" these days? Like, can't just be "version 2.3", gotta be DEFINITIVE. Sounds important. Feels... final. This one's been sitting in my open tabs for like a week because I kept forgetting to actually play it. Sorry not sorry.
First impression: cleaner than I expected. The UI isn't fighting me. I appreciate that. Some of these sprunki mods look like they were designed during an earthquake. This one's readable. Good start.
The characters - are they characters? Icons? Sound nuggets? Whatever - they're... consistent. Like, visually they belong together. Not always the case with these community mods. Sometimes you get a pixel art guy next to a vector graphic next to what looks like a scanned potato.
Sound test: The clicky percussion thing (top row, second from left) has a nice snap to it. The bass (bottom left, looks like a speaker maybe?) doesn't vibrate my cheap desk speakers into oblivion. Progress!
"How Do I Make Something That Doesn't Sound Like Garbage?"
Here's my non-expert method:
1. Click the thing that looks like it keeps time (usually a circle with lines)
2. Add something with movement (swirly ones are good)
3. Throw in a wild card (the weirdest looking icon)
4. Listen
5. Usually remove the wild card because it was a mistake
Q: Is this good for complete beginners?
A: Yeah actually. The sounds are balanced enough that you can't easily make ear-garbage. Like, there's a ceiling on how bad it can get. Floor's pretty low too though, let's be real.
Q: How many unique sounds total?
A: I didn't count. More than 5, less than 50? Enough to keep you busy for a bathroom break length of time.
Personal hot take: The purple "wub wub" sound is overrated. Everyone loves it. I think it's annoying. Fight me.
That One Screenshot With All The Lights On
You know the one I mean. Where someone activated every single icon at once and it looks like the control panel of a spaceship that's about to explode?
Sounds about as chaotic as it looks. Like a digital orchestra where every musician hates each other. Impressive in its own way though.
Tried to mimic rain again. Still terrible at it. Got something closer to bacon frying. Which, honestly, might be more useful? ASMR cooking channel background noise potential.
Weird thing I noticed: The orange triangle icon (or is it a mountain?) sounds different if you add it early vs late in the sequence. Or maybe I'm imagining things. Could be the coffee. Third cup today.
Compared To... Whatever
If you played the original Phase 2 (the non-definitive, peasant edition), this is... better? Smoother? Less janky? I don't have strong feelings either way. It's fine. It works. The audio doesn't clip. That's already beating like 30% of the sprunki mods out there.
If you're coming from something like the notoriously messy "Sprunki Pyramixed 0.9" (you know the one), this will feel downright professional. If you're used to the super polished stuff... manage expectations.
Actually you know what this reminds me of? That feeling when you clean your room just enough that it looks presentable for a Zoom call, but you shoved everything under the bed. It's tidy where it counts.

Played while procrastinating on actual work. Sun was shining outside. I was inside clicking colorful circles. Life choices.
P.S. The green icon that looks like a plant? Sounds nothing like a plant. False advertising. 0/10. (Kidding, it's fine.)
