Sprunki Kats V2: Because One Cat Game Wasn't Enough
So there was a Sprunki Kats. And someone was like "you know what this needs? A V2." And here we are. It's like meeting an old friend with new clothes. (#2) But the friend is a bunch of digital cat blobs making questionable music.
First thing I noticed: more characters. Like, significantly more.
There's this blue one that looks like it's wearing a tiny hat? I think? Might just be my eyes playing tricks after too much screen time.
#134 There's a graphical glitch when you drag too fast. Looks cool actually. Like the cat characters are leaving trails. Intentional feature or happy accident? Who knows.
The sounds are... different. Like if the first one was "kittens learning electronics" this is "teenage cats forming a band in a garage." Deeper bass, more complex rhythms. Still sounds like a robot trying to beatbox after dental surgery (#257) but like, with more practice.
What's Actually New? Let's Be Real
Okay so they added more icons. Cool. The animations are smoother than they have any right to be. (#141) Someone put effort in. Like actual effort. Not just "let's recolor the old ones."
My cat likes to watch the characters bounce. She's a fan of the orange one specifically. (#6) Wait I already said that about the first one. She has a type apparently. Orange digital cat blobs are her jam.
The interface is cleaner? Maybe? Or maybe I'm just used to it now. The color palette gives me a headache after 10 minutes. (#140) Too much neon. Like a cyberpunk cat cafe.
#467 My fingers are starting to ache from the repetitive motions. Drag, drop, listen. Drag, drop, listen. It's meditative in a weird way. Until your hand hurts.
Questions That Pop Into My Head
How many sound packs/characters are included in this vs the original? More. The answer is more. Are there seasonal or holiday themes? Cat Christmas? Cat Halloween? I'd play Cat Halloween Sprunki not gonna lie.
What visual customization options exist? None. You get the cats you get. Can I import my own sounds? No. These are government-issued cat sounds only.
What's the total duration of audio content? However long you keep clicking. Until your brain melts or you remember you have responsibilities.
#315 Sounds like a robot trying to hum a tune it can't quite remember. That's this game. All the cats are humming different tunes they half-remember from cat school.
The community probably has arguments about whether V1 or V2 is better. The Sprunki Discord has arguments about which Phase is "canon." (#65) It's all fake, people. They're cartoon cats making beep boops.
Weird Stuff I Noticed
The characters blink at random intervals. Some are slow, some are fast. No pattern. (#150) Like actual cats. Sometimes they stare, sometimes they blink. It's unsettlingly realistic for cartoon blobs.
There's a memory leak. My browser slows down after 30 minutes of play. (#143) Or maybe that's just my brain slowing down from cat sound overload.
#378 There's a specific joy when a mod surprises me after 100+ reviews. And this did! I expected just a recolor but they actually added stuff. New sounds, better animations. Someone cared.
When you get all of them going at once... it's chaos. Beautiful, ridiculous chaos. Like a cat orchestra where everyone's playing different songs.
So Should You Play It?
If you liked the first one, yeah obviously. If you've never played any Sprunki Kats... start with this one probably. It's more polished.
It's perfect for when you're waiting for a download and need something to click. (#194) Or when you want background noise for studying (and then not studying). (#218)
My review style has evolved from "professional" to "tired but committed." (#338) And I'm committed to telling you this is slightly better than the first one. Marginally. But better.
Final rating: 7/10 cat meows. Would be 8 but the neon colors actually hurt my eyes after a while.
